    Project Description

The United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) approved funding in the amount of $500,000 for activities (e.g. training, workshops, technical assistance) that addressed existing weaknesses in India's cold chain infrastructure. The objective of the program was to engage Indian importers, distributors and retailers that handle U.S. products in activities to facilitate improved handling of products throughout various stages of the cold chain, ultimately resulting in an increase in the value and volume of U.S. perishable food exports. Improvements to the Indian cold chain will also benefit Indian producers, retailers and consumers. This program is part of the U.S.-India Agriculture Knowledge Initiative (AKI) and was deemed a high priority by the Government of India and United States Government members of the AKI committee.
