Amsterdam cold chain program discussed
Unilever's new supply chain model, which
is aimed at
increasing margins, reducing costs, and
improving service, for instance by
optimization of the distribution

WMS calculates shortest picking route |
|
Dr. Kees Jan Roodbergen, who recently
joined the WFLO Scientific Advisory
Council (SAC) as a logistics and
operations management specialist, has
developed an algorithm that can help to
calculate the shortest picking route in
the warehouse. Software supplier Yanta
has incorporated this algorithm in its
warehouse management systems and
simulations have revealed that it can
reduce walking distances with 12
percent. When smaller orders are
combined into larger batches, even more
time can be saved. |
